Tire Technician

Job Summary

Maintain proper vehicle fuel and DEF inventories, reconcile fuel activity, and check oil levels. Perform multi-point inspections on inbound units, check tire pressure, conduct minor tire repairs, wheel alignments, and manage tire inventory. Wash and detail vehicles, move heavy-duty vehicles, and maintain the fuel island area to Six Sigma standards. Assist with environmental compliance and perform preventive maintenance. Conduct fleet analysis and report service issues to management. Wash windows, assist lower-level technicians, and perform other duties as assigned. Valid Class A CDL required; must obtain within six months. Schedule is Monday through Friday with weekends off.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A preferred
  • Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder Drug Testo
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road testo
  • Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Desired Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Three (3) years or more of related work experience, preferred
  • Ability to perform tire duties, preferred
  • Ability to perform light maintenance (i.e. Trailer PMs, wiper blades, headlights, marker lights), preferred
  • Proficiency in English written and verbal communication skills; ability to understand customer's verbal communication
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Understanding of computer hardware and software, especially word processing, spreadsheets, and email; must be able to read and understand codes and instructions on the computer. Must have basic computer skills and ability to perform data entry
  • Highly thorough and dependable
  • Work flexible schedules including shift work, weekends, holidays
  • Work at different locations

  • Work independently and as a member of a team
