Job Summary

Conduct routine maintenance, brake, electrical, and floor repairs on semi-trailers while performing tire mounting, dismounting, and welding. Inspect and adjust trailing equipment in compliance with manufacturers and DOT regulations, including safety checks and documentation preparation. Access various areas of trailers to perform necessary work, safely lifting objects up to 75 lbs and working in inclement weather. Maintain shop cleanliness and follow McGriff policies and procedures for all repairs. Participate in company training programs and apply knowledge of EPA, OSHA, and interstate authority rules. Possess ASE certifications, basic welding skills, and a clean MVR.

Required Qualifications

  • Must be mechanically inclined
  • Experience in all phases of semi-trailer repairs such as brakes, electrical, floor repair, tires, welding, hydraulics, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications work, etc.
  • Experience in DOT inspections
  • Experience in welding
  • Experience in tires new and repairing
  • Experience in change (mount & dismount)
  • Must be able to safely walk & stand for extended periods of time on various surfaces that may be uneven or slippery (including working outdoors in inclement weather)
  • Must be able to lift objects of various shapes, sizes and weights (up to 50 lbs. frequently and greater than 75 lbs. occasionally)
  • Must be able to safely walk, reach (including above your head), bend, climb, push, pull, twist, squat & kneel as necessary to perform the job duties
  • Must apply knowledge and work in accordance with DOT, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), interstate Authority, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and other rules and regulations as required
  • Must be able to perform safety inspections of equipment and prepare safety documentation
  • Must follow McGriff policy and procedures in making all repairs
  • Must have clean MVR
  • Must pass Drug Test
  • Must pass DOT physical
  • Must be able to reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work
  • Automotive repair: 1 year (Required)

Desired Qualifications

  • Prefer experience in all phases of semi-trailer repairs such as brakes, electrical, floor repair, tires, welding, hydraulics, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications work, etc.
  • Previous or current ASE certifications
  • Basic welding skills such as Oxy/Acetylene, ARC and MIG
  • Customer service: 1 year (Preferred)
