Job Summary
Oversee all Food Service Department operations, including menu planning, budget management, inventory control, and staff development. Lead a team in executing daily kitchen responsibilities while maintaining Young Life Food Service standards and ensuring comprehensive stewardship of resources. Direct planning and evaluation of menus, manage administrative needs for buildings and equipment, and cultivate a culture of spiritual formation and Christ-like hospitality among staff and volunteers. Identify and hire quality candidates for staff and intern positions, while conducting yearly evaluations and facilitating training for work crews and camp staff. Maintain systems for food cost tracking and participate in monthly divisional video conferences to uphold national metrics for excellent camp operations.
Required Qualifications
- profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord
- subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith
- Must obtain ServeSafe Certification within 6 months unless already certified
- Must be able to lift materials weighing 60 pounds waist high
- Must be able to work with and minister to volunteer high school and college-age young people
Desired Qualifications
- Some college education preferred or experience from a professional culinary institute preferred
- Work experience in the food service industry preferred
- Experience training and leading teams
- Demonstrate understanding of Young Life ministry, strategy and mission
- Experience in organizing and prioritizing tasks
- Experience in managing the administrative aspects of the Food Service department
- Demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communication with guests, vendors and staff
- Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan process and participation in training and development opportunities
- Attend yearly departmental training
- Participate in monthly divisional video conferences
