Job Summary
Oversee the entire Food Service Department by directing menu planning, managing inventory, and leading staff in food cost tracking and budget adherence. Establish a culture of Christ-like service by anticipating guest needs, training volunteers in safety standards, and fostering interdepartmental partnerships. Manage administrative responsibilities including hiring, performance evaluations, and compliance with Young Life's ministry standards and food service protocols. Lead daily kitchen operations and staff development to ensure excellent camp experiences that align with organizational mission goals.
Required Qualifications
- profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord
- subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith
- Must obtain ServeSafe Certification within 6 months unless already certified
- Must be able to lift materials weighing 60 pounds waist high
- Must be able to be exposed to cleaning chemicals when training staff in the proper cleaning methods
- Must be able to work in an administrative role as well as an active role in the kitchen
- Must be able to convey a sense of Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff
- Must be able to respond to the unexpected needs of a guest in a prompt and professional manner
- Must be able to work with and minister to volunteer high school and college-age young people who attend our camp
- Must be able to represent Young Life positively and professionally within the community
Desired Qualifications
- Some college education preferred or experience from a professional culinary institute preferred
- Work experience in the food service industry preferred
- Experience training and leading teams
- Demonstrate understanding of Young Life ministry, strategy and mission
- Experience in organizing and prioritizing tasks
- Experience in managing the administrative aspects of the Food Service department
- Demonstrate professionalism in written and verbal communication with guests, vendors and staff
- Demonstrate a desire to grow through engagement in the Individual Development Plan process and participation in training and development opportunities
- Intentionally pursue opportunities in mission leadership, personal growth, and development
