Job Summary

Traverse with a sub-meter GPS unit to establish accurate plot locations and use forest measurement techniques to assess stand volume and health. Navigate geographical spaces using CruiseMate to upload data while adhering to the BC Timber Cruising Manual. Produce high-quality cruising data for management reporting and organize equipment before, during, and after shifts. Administer day-to-day production and payroll tracking while maintaining knowledge of applicable federal, provincial, and local laws. Work in physically strenuous and varying terrains, often away from home in remote tent camps with internet access.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in Timber Cruising
  • Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License, or equivalent
  • Current Driver's Abstract
  • Ability to work away from home for scheduled periods of time
  • ATV and Resource Road Driving experience
  • Diligent, efficient and detail orientated attitude
  • The ability to both work both independently and as part of a team

Desired Qualifications

  • Education in any type of Resource Management or Forestry programs
  • Valid BC Intermediate or Advanced First Aid certification, or equivalent
  • Experience remote camping
  • Chainsaw experience
  • Knowledge of compilation programs, such as CompMate
