Job Summary
Tile Installer / Skilled Construction Technician to install tile in residential and commercial settings and assist with related construction tasks. Responsibilities include measuring and marking layouts; reading blueprints and project specifications; installing floor, wall, backsplashes, showers, tubs, and custom tile features; surface preparation (cleaning, leveling, waterproofing, underlayment/backer board); cutting tile with wet saws and hand tools; mixing and applying mortar, thinset, grout, adhesives, and sealants; working with ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, marble, mosaic; ensuring patterns, spacing, alignment, and finishes meet quality standards; performing demolition/removal when required; assisting with remodeling, punch-list, and handyman work; maintaining site safety per OSHA guidelines; communicating with supervisors, team, and clients; transporting materials and operating power tools; reporting unsafe conditions. Qualifications emphasize prior tile installation experience, ability to read plans, waterproofing and substrate preparation, tool proficiency, attention to detail, physical endurance, and reliable attendance; preferred but not required are additional certifications or apprenticeship experience and remodeling/handyman background.
Required Qualifications
- Previous professional tile installation experience required
- Strong knowledge of tile installation methods and materials
- Ability to read construction plans and project layouts
- Experience with waterproofing systems, floor leveling, and substrate preparation
- Skilled in using tile saws, grinders, spacers, levels, trowels, and hand tools
- Understanding of grout types, thinset applications, and tile spacing techniques
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in physically demanding conditions
- Kneel, bend, climb, and stand for extended periods
- Reliable transportation and punctual attendance
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Experience with remodeling or handyman services is a plus
- Ideal candidate is dependable, motivated, capable of working independently, and willing to assist with a variety of construction-related tasks when needed
