Tier 1 Data Center Technician (Active Secret Clearance Required)

Job Summary
Monitor and maintain the server environment for a Federal Government agency, ensuring availability and reliability of critical systems. Collaborate with Systems Administrators to troubleshoot server problems, perform reboots on physical and virtual servers, and manually ping or test connectivity. Escalate complex issues to Enterprise Level 2 Operations Engineers while documenting all changes and problems. Escort and monitor un-cleared workers on-site to maintain security protocols, observe data center conditions, and respond to situational issues including emergency cooling fan deployment. Move data center equipment and assist with device and cable installation and removal. Work nights from 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and every other Wednesday.
Required Qualifications
- Active Secret Clearance
- A degree in IT or 1-3 years of experience supporting enterprise infrastructure, data centers, or similar help desk experience
- Ability to perform the required shifts
- Experience with the use of IT Service Management (ITSM) tools or ticketing systems, including ServiceNow
- Knowledge of Microsoft 365 suite such as Outlook, SharePoint, Word, Excel
- Ability to perform quality work within deadlines with or without direct supervision
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional interaction with other employees, customers, and suppliers
- Effective teamwork skills to collaborate with colleagues on all assignments
- Ability to work independently while recognizing the importance of communication and coordination with other employees and organizations
- Strong willingness and ability to learn and adapt to new technologies, processes, and a constantly changing environment
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of VMware vSphere is a plus
