Job Summary
Establish and expand Total Industrial Engineering activities to visualize production progress and improve GENBA management throughout kaizen. Develop and implement KAIZEN plans to eliminate waste based on JIT techniques, introducing these principles from the design phase to realize quick target achievement. Coordinate cross-functional teams to drive implementation of continuous improvement projects while managing multiple deadlines and deliverables. Create and revisit Standardized Work documents to meet production KPIs, and write A3 reports summarizing completed initiatives for executive review. Partner with production leaders to generate improvement ideas, develop kaizen leaders through one-on-one coaching, and facilitate training on TPS concepts. Lead through influence to implement cost reduction initiatives and design manufacturing processes by visualizing material and information flow.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering
- 8 years of engineering experience
- High motivation and energy towards continuous improvement
- Flexibility to change projects and ability to multi-task as priorities change
- Flexibility with working hours, including weekends periodically
- Time study skills for line balancing and bottleneck identification
- Ability to apply standardized work based on the environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio) and AutoCAD
- Self-directed with good organizational and communication skills
- Analytical ability to study current systems, identify problems, create improvement plans, and influence management to implement proposed solutions
- Must be able to lift or carry component parts weighing up to 35 pounds
- Must be able to lift parts in excess of 35 pounds with a lift assist
- Ability to work on the production line for short periods of time
- Ability to use hands to handle or feel parts
- Ability to reach with hand and arms
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, talk and hear
- Ability to use close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, peripheral vision
- Ability to use frequent phone use and typing
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of lean manufacturing and the ability to apply these concepts to all applications including production, warehouse, and the supply chain
- Experience with simulation software
