Job Summary
Supervise daily operations of the Chambersburg Thrift Store, including processing donations, sorting, pricing, tagging, and shelving merchandise. Manage staff scheduling, recruit volunteers, and handle annual reviews while ensuring the store remains clean and organized. Process bank deposits, maintain sales records, and work with the bookkeeper to ensure timely reporting and fund deposits. Develop pricing policies and sales promotion strategies to maximize revenue while supporting the Salvation Army's community mission.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Prior retail and supervisory experience
- Excellent communication skills - both oral and written
- Must treat all people with compassion and respect
- Must be able to work independently
- Ability to operate a cash register
- Basic HS-level math/accounting skills and familiarity working with cash receipts
- Strong interpersonal skills and appropriate intervention skills with the Salvation Army required
- Must be able to keep information in a confidential and secure fashion
- Must be a self starter who can work in an environment with multiple changing work priorities
- PA Child Abuse History Clearance
- PA State Police Criminal Record Check
- PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check
- Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training
- Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army
