Job Summary
Thoracic Surgeon on the U.S. Army Reserve health care team responsible for thoracic trauma, oncology and respiratory medicine. Duties include examining, diagnosing, treating or prescribing courses of treatment and surgery for patients with vascular-system surgical needs, participating in humanitarian missions, leadership training and other opportunities while serving alongside top professionals in the field. Requires Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy, an active license in the U.S., board-eligibility, completion of thoracic surgery training, and U.S. citizenship/permanent residency; age 21–42 with waivers possible. Required Qualifications
- Doctor of medicine or doctor of osteopathy degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy; foreign graduates may apply with permanent certificate from the Educational Council of Foreign Medical Graduates
- Current license to practice medicine in the United States, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico
- Eligibility for board certification
- Completion of at least one year of an approved graduate medical education internship
- Completion of a training program in thoracic surgery
- U.S. citizenship
- Permanent U.S. residency
