Job Summary
Third Person in Charge oversees store operations in the absence of Store Director and ASD, with responsibilities including customer service, training new employees, coordinating hiring and interviews, merchandising execution, supervising late shift operations, ordering/receiving/storing/pricing/stocking/merchandising, and supporting safety culture and store standards. The role emphasizes leadership, corrective action in the director’s absence, team coordination, and driving store performance through communication, planning, and execution. Must be able to work closing shifts, be flexible with hours, and possess strong supervisory and customer-service skills to mentor Head Clerks/PICs for promotion to Third Person in Charge.
Required Qualifications
- Education Level: High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Four or more years retail experience required
- Retail grocery experience preferred
- Proficient customer service and supervisory skills
- Strong understanding of overall store operations
- Requires strong written and oral communication skills, leadership skills, and the ability to get along with others
- High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
- Available to work flexible hours (am/pm shifts)
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Ability to be friendly, courteous, tactful, and maintain composure in dealing with customers and co-workers
- Requires the analytical ability to handle administrative details such as planning, reporting, meeting operational objectives, scheduling, and supervising
- Requires the ability to judge and react to business activity
- Requires knowledge of basic math and weights and measures
