Job Summary
Prepare breakfast items, vegetables, and other cooked foods as designated while utilizing all kitchen equipment. Prepare various menu items with moderate difficulty under the instruction of the immediate supervisor or designee. Use good judgment and consult the supervisor when necessary, while demonstrating knowledge of organizational service standards and departmental sanitation protocols. Attend meetings and in-services for food production employees, plan work assignments to utilize time effectively, and maintain open communication with others. Provide assistance and contribute new ideas to the department.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of one year of cooking experience as Cook's Helper in a high volume health care institution or commercial establishment with a large volume food service
- Must be able to read, write and speak English
- Knowledgeable in portion control, forecasting procedures and ingredients
- Must be able to follow recipes, expand and reduce recipes to desired yields
- Knowledgeable of HACCP and follow this in all operations
- Must know food presentation and service
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
- Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization
