Job Summary

ThinkBig Technician Intern at Riggs Cat dealership. The program combines classroom work with hands-on learning to service Cat equipment across industries, with on-the-job training at a Riggs Cat location and in-state labs. You’ll complete assigned jobs to meet flat-rate times and re-work metrics, follow safety policies, handle paperwork and databases, remove/install parts, disassemble/assemble components, and test/adjust assemblies under supervision while progressing toward independent work. Eligibility requires enrollment or acceptance into the ThinkBIG program at OSU Institute of Technology in Okmulgee, OK, or active application status, plus a high school diploma or GED. The role involves traveling up to 20% for field assignments, obtaining or possessing required tooling, and potentially obtaining a CDL within 90 days. The position emphasizes safety, training, and ongoing coursework, with benefits including health, dental, vision, and more; typical duties include working with engines, electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems, and performing diagnostics and servicing of Cat machines and engines.

Required Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in or accepted into the ThinkBIG program at OSUTI, or in the process of applying.
  • General interest or foundational knowledge of engines, electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic systems and components.
  • Willingness to learn basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, and diagnostic software.
  • Must be able to obtain or currently possess adequate tooling to perform assigned duties as the program progresses.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Clean driving record and the ability to obtain a CDL within 90 days of hire for field assignment, if applicable.
  • Must be at least 21 to be assigned and operate a field vehicle.
  • Will be certified prior to operating a forklift and/or man lift.
  • May be required to complete a DOT physical.
  • May require MSHA certification.
  • Flexibility to work various schedules including shift work, required overtime, and on-call, as coordinated with your academic schedule.
