Job Summary
Deputy Editor to lead TheTravel's editorial team, plan and execute editorial content strategies to grow traffic and engagement, oversee day-to-day operations including assigning and editing articles, manage editors and writers, develop the editorial calendar, generate travel topics for news, features, reviews and editorials, write and edit travel articles, conduct editorial feedback to maintain quality and originality, oversee workflow from ideation to publication, track content performance with analytics, train new editorial staff and freelancers, stay updated on industry trends, ensure compliance with editorial guidelines, and thrive in a remote, work-from-home environment.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in travel journalism or related field
- Portfolio of published travel articles
- Strong writing and editing skills
- Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or related field (preferred)
- Experience leading editorial teams and managing deadlines
- Familiarity with SEO best practices and digital content management systems
- Ability to develop and maintain an editorial calendar
- Ability to generate engaging travel topics and content ideas
