Thesis Development and Analysis of Optical Methods for Laser-Processed Semiconductors
On-siteRenningen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany
Job Summary
Conduct optical and FEM simulations to calculate light transmission through silicon wafers, then develop an optical wafer inspection strategy based on results. Compare simulation data with measurements on laser-treated wafers to identify correlations and collaborate on setting up a new imaging stage for micrometer-level stress measurement. Perform experimental correlations with other stress measurement strategies to characterize the optical device. This six-month on-site thesis requires STEM education, proficiency in simulation software such as COMSOL or ZEMAX, and Python skills. Enrollment at a university is mandatory, and candidates must submit a CV, transcript, and examination regulations.
Required Qualifications
- studies in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) or comparable
- numerical simulation in optics
- experience with commercial numerical simulation software such as ABAQUS, ZEMAX, and COMSOL
- knowledge of Python
- enrollment at university
- fluent in English
Desired Qualifications
- practical laboratory experience
