Job Summary
Develop sustainability standards for data center reference designs, quantifying benefits through metrics like PUE, WUE, and carbon footprint. Partner with engineering leads across technical, mechanical, and electrical loops to embed sustainability into multi-generational system roadmaps. Lead efforts in developing system-level Life Cycle Assessments and Environmental Product Declarations while engaging with regulatory bodies and industry forums. Provide coaching and technical guidance to junior engineers and cross-functional teams to foster knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field
- Minimum of 7-10 years of engineering experience, with strong focus on sustainable designs across mission critical facilities and data centers
- Experience in sustainable building design, energy modeling, or life cycle assessment
- Deep knowledge of data center sustainability metrics (PUE, WUE, CUE)
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and green building certifications
- Engineering background in data center/high-tech design
- Good stand-up skills in front of customers and the field sales force
- Polished and professional, particularly with customers and in professional societies
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Can effectively identify key ideas and develop organized content to share those ideas across a diverse stakeholder group
- Self-motivated and disciplined
- Willing and able to transfer knowledge to other groups
- Able to collaborate with and influence others
- Technically creative yet grounded in real world feasibility
- Able to perform thorough and objective analysis
- Strong thermal/fluid energy and/or controls background
- Natural curiosity and enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills
