Thermal System Engineer – eAxle & eMachine

Job Summary
Develop and optimize thermal system concepts for eMachine and eAxle electric powertrain platforms, ensuring performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Perform system-level thermal simulations to predict component behavior and plan thermal measurements, including analysis and interpretation of results to support the validation process. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across electric machine, gearbox, power electronics, and software domains to develop simulation models and ensure alignment between simulation and measurement data. Serve as the main interface for thermal topics between key domains and stakeholders, supporting project teams with requirement evaluation, customer communication, and technical presentations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics/Electrical/Automotive Engineering, Thermodynamics or a comparable field
- Strong knowledge in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and thermal cause-and-effect relationships on both component and system level
- System-Level Understanding of the overall functionality, requirements, and interdependencies of electric powertrain components, including vehicle-level interactions
- Good understanding of thermal system behaviour & cooling concepts in eMobility & powertrain applications
- Experience with system simulation tools such as AMESIM, Simscape, Simulink or similar
- Proficiency in MATLAB and general engineering tools (e.g. DOORS, MS Office)
- Understanding of 3D FEA & CFD simulation methods and corresponding tools (e.g. ANSYS, Fluent)
- Fundamental understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, cost-effective design principles
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Fluent English language skills
Desired Qualifications
- Basic understanding of automotive embedded software architecture and software-controlled thermal management strategies
