Job Summary

Develop mechanical/physical concepts and design structures, systems, and components for nuclear products, focusing on nuclear safety and technical specifications. Perform hand calculations and analytical tools for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and scoping assessments to ensure components meet design requirements. Develop and verify Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models for reactor licensing basis, providing heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and particulate mechanics analysis. Create design documentation, including design basis documents and technical reports, while conducting independent reviews of engineering deliverables. Support the development of systems through prototyping, testing, and commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or related engineering discipline (e.g., nuclear aerospace, chemical, etc.) from an accredited institution
  • Proficiency with engineering hand calculations
  • Experience and/or knowledge in a minimum of one of the following areas: Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis codes (e.g., STAR-CCM+, Fluent, or similar)
  • Five years of experience in an engineering role
  • A master's degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) in lieu of two years of experience
  • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) in lieu of three years of experience
  • Ten years of experience in an engineering role
  • A master's degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) in lieu of two years of experience
  • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) in lieu of three years of experience
  • Fifteen years of experience in an engineering role
  • A master's degree in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) in lieu of two years of experience
  • A Ph.D. in engineering or related field (may include a combination of experience obtained through an academic institution, e.g., design projects, research, or design teams, as well as professional experience) in lieu of three years of experience
  • Previous experience at X-energy exceeding performance standards
