Job Summary
Architect and develop liquid-cooled cold plates for high-density front-end I/O connector applications, optimizing microchannel structures and flow paths to maximize thermal performance while minimizing pressure drop. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to define thermal requirements, integrate compatible materials for high heat flux environments, and ensure mechanical tolerance alignment. Execute CFD thermal simulations using ANSYS Icepak or FloTHERM to analyze temperature distribution and fluid flow, then partner with lab engineers to validate designs through experimental testing and root-cause analysis. Present optimized solutions and technical findings to customers and internal stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or a related field
- At least 4 years of industry experience in active and advanced cooling technologies, including cold plates, heat exchangers, heat pipes, or vapor chambers
- Experience developing liquid cooling solutions for high-speed connectors, modules, or front-panel I/O systems
- Strong proficiency with CFD and thermal simulation tools (ANSYS Icepak, FloTHERM, or similar)
- Experience with thermal instrumentation and data acquisition, including thermocouples, flow sensors, and IR imaging
- Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, Creo, or equivalent
- Solid understanding of heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and electronic packaging
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer-facing technical discussions
Desired Qualifications
- Understanding of electrical, mechanical, and thermal trade-offs in system-level integration
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) or statistical optimization methods
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced development environment
