Job Summary
Provide age-appropriate care for neonates through adults by assisting occupational and physical therapists with treatment programs. Set up and clean patient care areas, coordinate daily patient transportation schedules, and maintain adequate inventory of linens and supplies. Perform patient care activities within your training scope, including cleaning and disinfecting hydrotherapy whirlpools and therapy mats per departmental protocols. Complete appropriate documentation and report all patient injuries, unsafe situations, or unusual problems to the manager. Attend mandatory health, safety, and training in-services. A high school diploma and basic familiarity with a medical environment are preferred, along with experience working with children.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent education
- Basic familiarity with a medical environment
- Experience with working with children
- Current basic life support certification or schedule to attend a CPR certification course
- Demonstration of the basic clinical and non-clinical competencies
- Ability to be articulate, courteous and supportive in dealing with hospital, administrative and departmental personnel, patients and parents
- Independently support and assist in patient care by following the direction of a therapist or therapy assistant
- Respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards
