Job Summary
Prioritize and deliver basic patient care including toileting, bathing, linen changes, ambulation, and comfort measures under the supervision of a licensed therapist. Transfer patients using proper body mechanics, document vital signs and intake/output, and report observed condition changes to nursing or therapy personnel. Consult with the interdisciplinary team for care delivery, respond to patient and family requests, and assist with admission, discharge, and transfer processes. Maintain the gymnasium unit and ensure a safe, infection-prevention-compliant environment for patients, visitors, and staff while adhering to assigned work schedules.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Current BLS certification
- Knowledge of current clinical operations and procedures
- Knowledge of appropriate Infection Prevention and proper body mechanics
- General computer skills including data entry, word processing, email, and records management
- Clinical proficiency utilizing policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Critical thinking skills
- Effective organizational and time management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and complete complex tasks
- Ability to maintain quality, safety, and/or infection prevention standards
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to maintain proper levels of confidentiality
- Ability to work closely and professionally with others at all levels of the organization
- A significant amount of standing, walking, squatting, bending, reaching, lifting, pushing, and pulling, often for prolonged periods of time
- Lifting/exerting of up to 50 lbs
- Visual acuity required for patient assessment and documentation of care
- Acute hearing required for accurate patient assessment
- Sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard
- Close vision and the ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to work during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies
- Must maintain regular attendance in keeping with assigned work schedule
Desired Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in inpatient hospital setting
