Job Summary

Therapy Aide Level I will perform patient-related tasks and assist physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech-language pathologists with departmental procedures and patient care. Responsibilities include preparing treatment areas, assisting with patient care under supervision, transporting patients and equipment, scheduling inpatients/outpatients, organizing inventory, maintaining equipment and supplies, meeting productivity standards, and participating in cross-coverage. Level II expands duties to include more complex therapy procedures, independent performance of some techniques with supervision, managing supply orders, equipment checks, supervising assigned aides, and training of Level I aides/volunteers. Required knowledge includes basic therapy principles, body mechanics, anatomy/physiology, proper documentation, and ability to communicate courtefully with patients and staff. Education paths include Level I high school/GED; Level II Bachelor's degree in relevant fields or licensure/certification; BCLS certification.

Required Qualifications

  • Level I Graduation from high school or GED; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Level II Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Licensure/Certification as Athletic Trainer or Massage Therapist, or at least three years relevant experience as rehab aide/tech.
  • Level I Successful completion of an on-the-job training period, rendering competency in performance of required duties after a specified period of time.
  • One year rehabilitative services experience or equivalent education preferred for Level I.
  • Level II Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, or Licensure/Certification as Athletic Trainer or Massage Therapist, or at least three years relevant experience as rehab aide/tech.
  • Level I and II BCLS certification or obtain within first three months of employment.
