Job Summary
Conduct individual, group, and family counseling for residents regarding mental health and substance abuse, formulating customized treatment plans and coordinating with case managers. Evaluate resident conditions by interviewing clients, reviewing records, and observing for abnormal behavior, while administering therapies such as behavior modification and stress management. Maintain client confidentiality per HIPAA and ACA standards by compiling current case notes and timely statistics for the supervisor. Mentor student interns, monitor their progress, and serve as a liaison between interns and educational institutions. Lead or participate in devotions, prayers, and outreach events, and network with external agencies as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Social Work, or a related field
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in social services or homelessness services
- Thorough knowledge of the techniques and skills needed to assist clients with bio-psychosocial issues (assessments, treatment plans, referrals, discharges.)
- Excellent written communication skills for updating files and preparing reports
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate individual, group therapy, and family counseling for a diverse population
- Computer literate
- Experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook)
- Must be able to sit for extended periods
- Ability to lift and/or pull objects weighing up to 25 pounds
- Must be able to see, hear and speak, in order to interact with staff and the general public
- Must be able to move around as needed to perform essential job duties
- Must be in agreement with and sign The Caring Place Statement of Faith
- Level 2 Background Screening
Desired Qualifications
- CAP Certification
- 2 - 4 years of counseling experience
- 1 - 2 years working with the homeless population
