Job Summary
Provide short-term or long-term counseling, group services, and crisis intervention for victims of sexual assault and their families. Conduct individual and group intake screenings while maintaining an active caseload of 18-20 clients. Manage comprehensive member records, statistical data for multiple funding sources, and confidentiality compliance. Collaborate with the clinical team, participate in supervision meetings, and complete twelve hours of annual continuing education. Establish community contacts, lead coalition activities, and assist in designing new services to advance the public presence. Maintain member confidentiality and provide advocacy referrals to legal, medical, and social systems as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish Speaking)
- A minimum of one year of experience in counseling
- Previous experience in working with trauma populations, specifically with survivors of sexual violence
- Previous training in sexual assault or related issues
- The ability to work collaboratively or independently, as situations require
- A basic skill level in MS Outlook
- Skills in MS Office, specifically in Excel
- Knowledge of databases such as Infonet
- Skills in creativity, innovation and ease in engaging members
- The ability to make sound decisions in emergency situations
- Highly effective interpersonal and communication skills with victims/families
- Social perception and cultural awareness
- A strong service orientation and complex problem solving skills
- The ability to be effective regarding use of time and able to prioritize work assignments
- Complete the ICASA forty-hour sexual assault crisis intervention training within thirty days of employment start date (if not completed within the prior two years)
- Complete ongoing continuing education as required
- Complete other continuing education and training as set by ICASA or other agencies/funders
- Cultural competency and conversational and written fluency in the language (Spanish speaking) of the population that is served
- A Master's degree – MA, MSW, etc. from an accredited college or university
- A holder of a Master's degree should be licensed, or working toward becoming licensed (Illinois Department of Professional Regulation Licensure as: LPC, LCPC, LSW or LCSW)
- Documented proof of full COVID-19 vaccination
- The ability to professionally handle unexpected crises
- Operation of computers and other office equipment
- Movement between offices
- Walking, stooping or kneeling
- The ability to reach or to lift objects, such as packages or supplies
- Seeing, hearing and speaking
- Periods of sitting, holding a telephone and using computers
- Travel to other locations in the city or other regions of Illinois
