Job Summary
Therapeutic Youth Mentor provides resilience-building, life skills coaching, and crisis support to youth in Montana within a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include building trusting relationships, modeling healthy choices and boundaries, supporting treatment plan goals, facilitating skill-building activities (communication, problem-solving, emotional regulation, daily living skills), accompanying youth in community settings, providing crisis de-escalation, maintaining timely EHR documentation, collaborating with therapists, families, and partners, contributing to PQI initiatives, and upholding agency values. Required abilities include rapport-building with youth, confidentiality, group and individual work, teamwork with independence, strong communication, proficiency with EHR documentation, ethical decision-making, and readiness to obtain First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention certification. Travel to other locations may be required; flexible schedule including evenings or weekends. 21+ with Montana criminal/child abuse clearance and a valid driver's license.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Driver’s license to operate a passenger vehicle
- Criminal record and child abuse registry background check as required by the State of Montana
- Willingness and ability to obtain certification in First Aid/CPR and Violence Intervention Prevention
- Strong ability to build rapport and engage therapeutically with youth
- Knowledge of professional boundaries and confidentiality practices
- Excellent active listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in completing documentation in an electronic health record (EHR)
- Self-motivated, dependable, and adaptable with a team-oriented mindset
