Therapeutic Recreation Specialist

Plans, develops, organizes, implements, supervises, and evaluates a comprehensive therapeutic recreation program as an integral part of the individualized rehabilitation process. Assists patients in attaining and maintaining optimum functioning and a satisfying lifestyle. Updates treatments plans weekly and leads discussions at team conferences. Designs goal directed, individualized treatment plans for each patient to assist in the patients rehabilitation process. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of treatments and modifies treatment plans as indicated to obtain goals. Collaborates with the Volunteer Department, facilitates and evaluates special programs such as Pet Therapy, Friendly Visitors, or any additional programs that may be beneficial to the residents being serviced. Ensures timely changes to the plan of care are documented and communicated to the patient, health care team, and family members as appropriate. Develops weekly and monthly calendars that include a variety of activities based on resident interests and suggestions. Plans and conducts activities that are relevant to the specific needs, interests, and cultural background of the patients.
