Therapeutic Recreation Specialist / CTRS

Job Summary
Plan, organize, and coordinate recreation activities, functional leisure skills, and leisure education for clients with neurological injuries like TBI, CVA, or stroke. Interview clients to assess capabilities and barriers, then monitor progress to recommend program modifications. Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to co-treat, participate in care planning meetings, and develop individualized goals. Design community reintegration activities, provide training, and document treatment results while reporting status updates to the clinical coordinator, physicians, and families. Maintain confidentiality and attend case conferences to ensure continuity of care from evaluation through discharge.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed CTRS
- Knowledge & experience treating neurological injuries, such as TBI/CVA
- Current Cardiopulmonary Rescutiation certification
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation Therapy
- Minimum of two years therapeutic therapy experience
- Knowledge of complex neurologic injury and orthopedic rehabilitation techniques
- Ability to obtain National Therapeutic Recreational Specialist certification within one year of employment
- Maintain professional license and/or certification as required by the state in which the therapist practices
- Effective communication skills
- Reliable transportation
