Job Summary
Develop individualized recreational plans and goals for children based on clinical assessments, documenting progress through monthly progress notes and data collection systems. Implement therapeutic recreation programs including specialized adjunct therapies like music and dance therapy, while coordinating equipment and supplies. Present findings at treatment planning meetings and provide in-service training to Child Care Workers and new employees. Maintain the recreation budget, attend required agency trainings, and adjust schedules for community integration events such as the Heart Run/Walk.
Required Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation with emphasis in therapeutic recreation
- Bachelor's Degree in Therapeutic Recreation with a minimum of three years' experience treating seriously emotionally disturbed children and youth
- Valid NYS Driver's License
- Successfully complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, annual CPR and all other required agency trainings as defined by program and agency policy
- Adjust assigned work schedule to meet the needs of specialized community integration programs including but not limited to the Heart Run/Walk, Boilermaker, Spring Formal, Musical Presentation/Concerts, etc. Which may require evening and weekend hours
