Job Summary
Create and maintain a safe, nurturing environment for children and young people with complex trauma histories while implementing Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Crisis Management Plans. Support independent living skill development through cooking, meal planning, budgeting, and household management using a trauma-informed approach. Act as a positive role model engaging youth in meaningful activities, while providing mentorship through the WeStrive Mentoring Program. Availability includes a 24/7 rotating roster with sleepover shifts, weekends, and public holidays. Successful candidates must hold Cert IV or higher in Youth Work or Social Work, current Working with Children Clearance, NDIS Workers Screening card, and unrestricted Queensland driver's licence. Two-week training commences 27 July.
Required Qualifications
- Cert IV or higher in Youth Work, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field (completed qualification or currently enrolled)
- Current Working with Children Clearance Check (Blue Card)
- Current NDIS Workers Screening card (Yellow Card)
- LCS2 Check (must already have one or apply during interview)
- Unrestricted QLD Driver's Licence
- Current statement of attainment of First Aid & CPR certifications (HLTAID009 / HLTAID011)
- NDIS Workers Orientation Module
- Hope and Healing module (or willing to complete this upon employment)
- Experience supporting young people with complex trauma (Highly regarded)
Desired Qualifications
- Skills in case planning, behaviour support, and report writing (Desirable)
- Cultural knowledge and/or lived experience that supports an inclusive and culturally responsive approach to working with young people
