Job Summary
Therapeutic Assistant provides crisis intervention and behavior management support for emotionally handicapped students, assists teachers and administrators, counsels students one-on-one and in groups, plans and implements therapeutic activities, and documents incidents and progress. Works with psychologists, teachers and parents; supports modification of lessons; maintains records and reports; operates office and AV equipment; may supervise detention and lunch periods; performs related clerical tasks and contributes to student behavioral goals and academic progress.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in education, special education, child development or closely related field
- one year of related special education or mental health experience
- equivalent combination of education, training and experience
