Job Summary
Manage the scene shop and student volunteers, overseeing construction of scenery, props, and furniture while training staff on power tools. Complete construction draftings based on scenic designs, maintain theater spaces including the Dryden Auditorium and Black Box Theater, and oversee scenic painting. Attend weekly production meetings to create schedules and solve special execution requirements. Work 18 hours weekly across 15 weeks in fall and spring semesters. This one-year appointment supports Freed-Hardeman University's mission of integrating Christian faith, scholarship, and service through hands-on theatre production.
Required Qualifications
- Four-year college or university program certificate
- Two to four years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to write correspondence
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
- Ability to communicate and coordinate events and schedules involving different groups of people, both students and FHU employees
- College level Algebra
- Knowledge of Internet software
- Spreadsheet software
- Word Processing software
- Ability to calculate distances using the Old English System (Inches & Feet)
- Ability to apply common sense
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with multiple problems simultaneously
