Job Summary
Theatre Practitioner role at The Park Hospital (Nottingham) involves assisting the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; supporting the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; providing post-operative care including monitoring vitals, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring discharge readiness; setting up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements; reporting equipment faults; collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to maintain safe, efficient theatre operations; and adhering to infection prevention policies while contributing to a positive theatre environment.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
- Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery
- Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles
- Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
