Job Summary
Oversee daily operations at The Underground retail dining location, ensuring efficient service, food quality, and guest satisfaction. Lead, coach, and train full-time and part-time employees while assigning workstations and monitoring performance. Assist with food production, inventory management, cash handling, and cost control initiatives. Maintain compliance with SERV Safe standards, HACCP procedures, and sanitation requirements. Open and close the operation following established procedures and assume managerial responsibility during assigned shifts. Resolve guest concerns professionally and communicate operational needs to leadership. This part-time role operates Monday through Friday from 10:00 a. m. to 3:00 p. m. with a starting pay rate of $15.10.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous food service experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Supervisory experience with the ability to effectively manage and motivate staff
- Prior customer service experience
- Must be able to work in a commercial kitchen and active serving environment
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
- Must be able to stoop
- Must be able to bend
- Must be able to walk extensively
- Must be able to stand for long periods
- Must be able to follow all safety and sanitation guidelines
- Must be able to adhere to University and KU Memorial Union policies and procedures
- Must be able to demonstrate the organization's core values

- Must be able to exhibit professional decorum
