Job Summary
The Bellevue Hospital Server role involves delivering patient meals and trays, reading menus to patients, collecting and documenting meal-related data such as intake and calorie counts, coordinating with nursing and dietitians on patient needs, organizing floor stock, maintaining sanitation of the kitchen and patient areas, and adhering to food safety protocols. Responsibilities include checking admissions and diet changes, entering meal orders, delivering trays from the holding cart, ensuring items are labeled and dated, breaking down and washing service areas, and supporting unit operations with timely service and isolation precautions as required.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to read and write small letters and numbers
- Ability to communicate and understand written and oral communication
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic calculations
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and be mobile
- Punctual attendance at assigned work location is required
- Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner and maintain an accident free work place, including ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of emergency codes
- Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period
- Reads menus to patients as necessary
- Communicates with nursing and dietitians regarding special patient needs/concerns
- Checks unit floor supplies
- Creates floor supply list based on par levels
- Delivers meals in a timely fashion
- Insures that all items are properly wrapped, labeled, and dated
- Follows isolation precautions on patient doors; uses appropriate protective equipment
- Coordinates menus with patients` families when they cannot participate in room service
