Job Summary
Biomedical Equipment Technician II in a hospital setting performing Planned Maintenance, safety testing, repairs, calibration, and installation on general and specialized diagnostic/therapeutic medical equipment. Works under the Clinical Engineering Manager, may provide on-call coverage and potentially assist or lead other technicians. Requires an Associate degree in a related field; 3-5 years of applicable maintenance experience; CBET preferred; strong knowledge of anatomical/physiological concepts, medical terminology, and regulatory standards; proficient in using test equipment and documenting maintenance activities; able to train others and communicate effectively with clinical staff and vendors.
Required Qualifications
- Associate of Applied Sciences Degree in medical electronics, electronic technology or related field
- Three to five years experience performing corrective and planned maintenance on medical devices and/or clinical support equipment
- Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Working knowledge of basic hand tools and test equipment specific to the field
- Ability to train CE associates on use and application of select test equipment
- Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, The Joint Commission, CAHO, EOC, FDA and related regulations and standards for clinical equipment service and repair
- Ability to operate complex test equipment and interpret equipment data
- Ability to follow complex written instructions and document actions
- Excellent customer service communications skills to interact with hospital personnel and vendors
