Job Summary
The TFS Dispatcher I - Initial Attack will dispatch agency and inter-agency resources for wildfire response, maintain resource availability records, and disseminate daily intelligence on resource status, weather data, and fire activity. Duties include coordinating FAMIS transactions, mileage reports, travel vouchers, and purchase orders; managing agency credit cards, vehicle logs, and equipment; supporting aviation operations statewide; and on-call after-hours reporting with potential overnight travel for meetings or training. Emergency response is an essential duty. Requires high school diploma or equivalent, valid Texas driver’s license (or ability to obtain within 30 days), and ability to use dispatch software and communicate effectively in both verbal and written form. The role may involve 10-12 hour shifts, holidays, weekends, and occasional out-of-state duty; benefits include health insurance, retirement, and paid time off.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid Texas Driver's License or ability to acquire within 30 days of hire
- Ability to utilize PC-based dispatch software and equipment
- Good verbal and written communication skills
