Job Summary
The Firefighter/Paramedic performs the full array of duties including emergency medical response with basic/advanced life support, firefighting, vehicle and equipment maintenance, fire prevention, inspections, and public education. Responsibilities include responding to fire, rescue, and medical emergencies, operating and maintaining firefighting equipment, participating in training, preparing reports, and complying with policies and procedures. The role requires physical activity, ability to lift up to 100 pounds, and the ability to work extended hours. Requires Texas Basic Firefighter and Paramedic certification or eligibility, and a valid Texas driver’s license; includes potential training and possible assignments beyond listed duties.
Required Qualifications
- Certified as current Texas Basic Firefighter and Paramedic at time of application submission
- Must be a certified Texas Basic Firefighter and Paramedic or eligible for licensing through TCFP and TDSHS
- High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Valid Texas driver’s license with acceptable driving record
- No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history
