Job Summary
Construction Inspector to support WSP's Construction Management and Inspection (CMI) services for State Highway Administration highway/bridge projects. Responsibilities include daily site inspections of contractor work to ensure compliance with plans and specifications, conducting field tests (slump, air content, compaction), measuring and recording pay items, preparing daily inspection reports, and coordinating with utilities, state, local, and federal agencies. The role requires the ability to work in various weather conditions, nights and weekends as needed, and effective communication and organizational skills. Ideal candidates have ASTM/ACI knowledge and MARTCP/OSHA10 certifications preferred, with prior MDOT SHA experience desired.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 5 years of experience in Roadway and Bridge construction
- Experience in field inspection or construction supervision of civil works projects (earthwork, roads, utilities, infrastructure, bridges, paving, drainage)
- Knowledge of ASTM, ACI and other construction testing requirements; use of nuclear gauges, concrete sampling, and construction safety
