On-siteMountain View Santa Clara County, California, United States

Full TimeMasters DegreeMediumAI Software

Job Summary

Build and evolve the automated hardware-in-the-loop validation framework for ADAS/autonomous driving ECU and system testing. Translate formal requirements into repeatable test cases covering nominal operation, fault handling, timing, and safety behavior. Execute and debug validation on HIL benches using vehicle network interfaces, embedded target access, and fault injection. Partner with firmware and systems teams to define test coverage, investigate failures, and improve release readiness. Support automated regression testing, including firmware deployment, orchestrated execution, and structured result reporting. Maintain shared framework components as new vehicle platforms and ECU releases are added. This role requires practical experience with HIL hardware integration, vehicle electrical architecture, and strong Python skills for building automated test frameworks. Candidates must have 3+ years in test planning, experimental design, and automation, with an understanding of autonomous driving systems and CI/CD for hardware validation.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or a related field (including ME, EE, CS, Robotics, Controls, Aerospace) or equivalent practical experience
  • 3 + years experience in data analysis and test scripting/automation experience (C/C++, Python, Matlab/Simulink)
  • 3+ years experience in Test planning and experimental design, especially designing for safety and repeatability
  • Proficiency in Automation test frameworks
  • Understanding of autonomous driving vehicles, infrastructure, and operations

Desired Qualifications

  • Practical experience with HIL/bench hardware integration (power supplies, DAQ/I/O, cabling, and basic electrical debugging) and general vehicle or embedded electrical systems knowledge
  • Experience designing repeatable, safety-conscious test plans with deterministic setup/teardown and clear experimental boundaries
  • Familiarity with vehicle electrical architecture, controlling mechanisms, and the integration process
  • Able to adapt quickly, think independently, and function effectively in a fast-paced start-up environment
  • Strong Python skills and hands-on experience building or maintaining automated test frameworks (pytest preferred)
  • Ability to interpret wiring harness diagrams, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings in relation to vehicle networks (CAN, Ethernet, etc) and their interaction with other automotive systems
  • Strong cross-functional communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with engineering, product, and other teams
  • Understanding of NI PXI based test systems or other commercial HIL platform experience and real-time bench automation
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles such as defining requirements and formal verification and validation
  • Experience in hands-on troubleshooting at circuit board and module system levels, including systems integrated within a Vehicle network
  • Requirements-based validation workflows and formal test case management
  • CI/CD for hardware validation, structured reporting, and test artifact management
