Job Summary
Prepare and condition nonmetallic samples for mechanical testing while operating equipment such as universal testing machines, DMA analyzers, and hardness testers. Perform routine and specialized tests including tensile, hardness, compression, and shear/flexural testing, then record and analyze data using lab software and spreadsheets. Maintain a clean lab environment, calibrate equipment, and collaborate with engineers to support custom testing plans and prepare technical reports. This role involves working at the Lansing, NY site with an hourly rate of $19-$22. You will need an associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or Materials Science and 2-5 years of experience in mechanical testing or laboratory environments.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or related field
- 2-5 years of experience in a mechanical testing or laboratory environment
- Ability to lift and handle materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs)
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Materials Science, or related field preferred
- Familiarity with mechanical testing standards (ASTM, ISO) is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures precisely
- Basic understanding of polymers, composites, and nonmetallic materials
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data entry systems
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
