Job Summary
Independently set up and conduct engine dynamometer testing, including instrumentation installation, procedure adherence, documentation, and real-time monitoring. Configure data loggers and acquisition systems, select sensors, manage files, and perform application-level testing for outdoor power machinery. Monitor test data, identify abnormalities, coordinate root cause analysis, and support engineering in developing new test procedures. Perform thorough engine diagnosis, disassembly, reassembly, and maintenance of test cells. Troubleshoot dynamometers, instrumentation, and low-voltage wiring while managing inventory and generating comprehensive reports with analysis and documentation. Provide training and technical guidance to less experienced technicians.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 4 to 7 years of progressive hands-on experience in engine testing, dynamometer operation, or advanced mechanical diagnostics
- Must demonstrate a positive attitude
- Must be self-motivated
- Must be able to work as part of a team
- Ability to successfully prioritize, organize, and execute multiple tasks concurrently
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Disciplined, deadline-driven approach
- Excellent communication skills, both interpersonal and via email and other digital platforms
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Associate degree in Engine Technology or related field
- Technical certifications
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with engines, dynamometers, instrumentation systems, and low-voltage wiring
- Demonstrated ability to interpret technical data and adapt test procedures in real time
- Experience mentoring or training junior technicians
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to interface effectively with engineering teams
