Job Summary
Lead test engineer deliverables to the NPI schedule and roadmap, introducing new products, technologies, test processes, and equipment. Perform detailed analysis on assigned product test quality to identify trends and drive corrective and preventative actions. Manage the engineering test function for standard and custom devices, evaluate required test procedures and equipment, and analyze data to drive systemic improvements throughout the product lifecycle. Provide training and coaching to test engineers and technicians on new products and features, while managing technical relationships with customers to enable site activities. Coach and mentor Test Engineers I & II, establish measurable goals, and coordinate large teams to achieve operational metrics and organizational objectives. Adhere to safety, health, and security policies while defining and implementing test engineering strategies aligned with campus directions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors of Science in Electronics or Electrical Engineering (NFQ Level 8)
- five to ten years experience in relevant field
- experience in electrical manufacturing environment
- Lead TE deliverables to deliver to NPI schedule and roadmap
- Provide training and coaching test engineers and test eng technicians on new products and the associated new features
- Manage technical relationship with customer and lead enabling activies for site
- Perform detailed analysis on test quality of product assigned, identify trends and drive corrective & preventative actions
- Manage the engineering test function for standard and/or custom devices as determined by the technologies introduced on NPIs
- Identify and evaluate test procedures and test equipment required to deliver test coverage
- Analyse the data to drive systemic improvements in product/platform/operation performance through the lifecycle of the product
- Manage the narrative for test development and delivery for the site with the customer, including escalations and roadblocks to deliver cusomter expectations
- Provide communication forum for the exchange of ideas and information with the department
- Organize ideas clearly and use an appropriate business style to present at individual level and at organisation level
- Identify individual and team strengths and development needs on an ongoing basis
- Create and/or validate training curriculum in area of responsibility
- Coach and mentor Test Engineers I & II to deliver excellence to every internal and external customer
- Establish clear measurable goals and objectives by which to determine individual and team results
- Solicit ongoing feedback from Test Engineering Manager, Workcell Manager (WCM), Business Unit Manager (BUM), peers and team member on team member's contribution to the Workcell team
- Provide ongoing coaching and counseling to team members based on feedback
- Perform team member evaluations professionally and on time
- Coordinate activities of large teams and keep them focused in times of crises
- Ensure recognition and rewards are managed fairly and consistently in area of responsibility
- Know and understand the campus strategic directions
- Define, develop and implement Test Engineering strategies, which contribute to the campus strategic directions
- Provide regular updates to Test Engineering Manager on the execution of the strategy
- Identify creative ways to reduce cost by streamlining processes and systems
- Utilize tools to monitor departmental cost and cost trends, striving continuously to improve value
- Provide feedback to Test Engineering Manager on cost and cost trends
- Adhere to all safety and health rules and regulations associated with this position and as directed by supervisor
- Comply and follow all procedures within the company security policy
