Job Summary
Develop and improve functional end-of-line and in-process testing systems across all manufacturing operations locations. Perform statistical analysis of test parameters to enhance first-time product acceptance and defect detection. Troubleshoot electrical controls, hydraulic systems, and mechanical design features while developing calibration routines and specifying new equipment solutions. Interface with customer engineering resources to finalize test strategies and submit validation data for approval. Coordinate test development for new product launches and implement preventive maintenance measures to support operational goals. Provide regular status updates to the Engineering Test Systems Manager and ensure adherence to quality management system policies.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering
- at least one year of experience with automatic transmission processes
- General knowledge of engineering mechanics, physics, hydraulics, electronics and computer software
- A basic understanding of the operational theory and principles of operation of automatic transaxle/transmissions
- Familiarity with common instrumentation testing equipment and data acquisition and control systems
- Familiarity with common electronic testing instrumentation (oscilloscope, frequency generator, multimeter) and data acquisition systems
- Experience programming real-time applications such as PLC and LabVIEW
- Experience with electronics and automation
- High level of analytical ability
- The ability to prioritize assigned tasks, and accurately estimate the time and costs required for project completion
- The ability to read and interpret manufacturing documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, machine drawings, wiring/electrical schematics, and repair manuals
- The ability to write detailed reports with supporting documentation and data
- The ability to effectively communicate with customers, employees and leaders of the business organization
- Must be able to read and understand English
- Must be proficient in the operation of computers, word processing, spreadsheet and database software applications
- The ability to develop written communication, spreadsheets, charts and graphs
- The ability to interpret multiple test stand programming languages including PLC, LabVIEW, etc
- The ability to add and subtract, multiply and divide, in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
- The ability to compute rate, ratio and percent
- The skills to develop and interpret graphs
- Understanding of typical statistical methods and the interpretation of statistical results
- The ability to solve practical problems with limited known variables, in situations where only limited standardization exists
- The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
- The ability to stand
