Job Summary
Oversee and perform scale house, silo, and railcar functions including general housekeeping, answering phones, and communicating with drivers via CB radio. Load sand trucks using automation systems, obtain driver signatures, and control sand inventory by coordinating with the scale house. Operate loaders to load sand into hoppers, verify switch alignments before moving cars, count railcars, and perform couplings using pneumatic openers. Record railcar information, spot next hoppers, and ensure contamination is minimized while maintaining safety protocols outdoors in all temperatures.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to work outdoors in all environments
- Must be able to cope with outdoor temperatures (hot and cold temperatures)
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including half mask respirator, hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses when expected
- Must be able to shovel sand, sweep scales and use a grease gun
- Must be able to climb heights to 95' using safety ladders
- Must be able to interact with other team members, railroad crews, and other areas
- Must understand customer needs
- Must be able to report issues or concerns to the Terminal Manager
- Must be alert and aware of surrounding
- Must be able to verify the direction being travelled
- Must be able to control sand inventory in silos by communicating with the scale house
- Must be able to check to ensure that contamination of sand props is minimized
- Must be able to open and close pit doors
- Must be able to verify with Engineers that all switches line up before moving
- Must be able to communicate with Engineers via Radio
- Must be able to count cars and help perform all switches
- Must be able to check all cars to understand to know where to make the separations
- Must be able to lace hoses when coupling and pull pin releases when uncoupling
- Must be able to set hand brakes by climbing up a 2-step ladder and turn the brake wheel
- Must be able to use pneumatic opener to open and close cars
- Must be able to record the information from railcar on list
- Must be able to spot the next hopper while communicating to engineer
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
