Terminal Operator

Job Summary
The Terminal Operator at Lhoist North America is responsible for unloading rail cars, loading customer trucks, inspecting equipment for safety issues, and managing inventory. Key tasks include operating terminal equipment, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED, experience in an industrial setting, and the ability to work shifts including overtime. Strong communication and basic computer skills are required, along with the physical ability to perform job duties in various working conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in an industrial environment with bulk material handling, storage, and shipping
- Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week
- Ability to safely run skid steer, fork truck, and other light vehicles
- Must be or be able to obtain certification as a weighmaster in South Carolina
- Basic reading and math skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Basic computer skills on how to use MS Office products and SAP
- Ability to occasionally lift/carry 56 pounds
- Ability to push/pull a maximum force of 90 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Technical training or AA degree in technical related field is desired
- 1-2 years of previous experience in heavy manufacturing and/or mining
- Previous heavy equipment experience is desired
Additional Requirements
- Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations
- Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
- The employee will be exposed to working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles
