Terminal Operations Manager

Job Summary

Lead assigned terminals to financial, service, utilization, safety, and compliance outcomes by supervising Terminal Managers, assessing their capability, and holding leaders accountable for execution. Monitor profitability, gross margin, and equipment utilization to identify trends, develop corrective action plans, and create structured recovery programs for underperforming locations. Implement daily, weekly, and monthly operating cadences, including performance reviews, audit routines, and standardized protocols for dispatch and customer escalation. Partner with Sales, Finance, and Safety to ensure new freight launches and customer commitments are executed profitably while promoting a strong safety culture and regulatory compliance.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, Transportation, Logistics, Operations Management, or a related field preferred
  • 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in transportation, trucking, logistics, terminal operations, or a related industry
  • Multi-terminal, regional operations, or multi-location leadership experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with P&L accountability, operating-budget management, cost control, margin improvement, and data-driven operating reviews
  • Experience building or improving SOPs, operating cadence, scorecards, audit routines, and performance-management processes
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and employee development capabilities
  • Ability to hold leaders accountable while building trust and collaborative relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate leadership capability, judgment, urgency, financial understanding, and role fit
  • Effective conflict resolution, communication, documentation, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to lead change, standardize processes, and improve team performance across multiple locations
  • Strong understanding of profit and loss management, budgeting, operational metrics, and cost control
  • Thorough knowledge of terminal operations, dispatch processes, customer service, driver productivity, utilization, and terminal leadership
  • Working knowledge of DOT, FMCSA, safety, and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data and translate findings into action plans
  • Ability to build, audit, and improve protocols for dispatch, utilization, customer escalation, profitability review, and terminal recovery
  • Proficiency with transportation management systems, operational reporting tools, fleet-related software, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Results-driven, organized, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and cross-functional communication skills
  • Must pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and comply with corporate drug-free workplace policies
