Terminal Manager

Job Summary
Manage and control freight operations for a local terminal by coordinating employee activities, assigning responsibilities, and directing personnel to ensure efficient daily functioning. Investigate and resolve all complaints and discrepancies while interviewing and selecting candidates to coach staff. Enforce compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and government regulations. Analyze and review financial and operational reports to determine trends and increase profitability. Monitor and improve operational processes to enhance efficiency and collaborate with cross-functional teams to align reporting needs. Requires flexibility to respond to operational issues outside standard business hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays. Primarily office-based with frequent time spent on dock and yard areas.
Required Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- High school diploma or GED
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Read, write, communicate and comprehend the English language
- Ability to converse with co-workers and members of the general public, including customers
- Ability to understand oral and written instructions as well as governmental regulations
- Ability to respond to questions and inquiries from management and government representatives
- Ability to accurately complete various documents, reports and records required of the position
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time
- Ability to climb stairs, move between dock and office areas
- Ability to occasionally assist with loading/unloading freight
- Ability to lift, carry, or move materials up to 100 pounds when supporting dock operations
- Sufficient mobility to navigate the dock and yard safely, including stepping onto and off equipment, bending, stooping, and reaching as needed
- Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, or holidays as business needs dictate
- Flexibility to respond to operational issues outside of standard business hours
- Ability to consistently comply with all company and regulatory safety policies and procedures
- Adequate vision and hearing (with or without correction) to read, prepare, and communicate information
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
- 5+ years of terminal operations experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transportation management applications
