Job Summary
Direct and coordinate daily shipping, receiving, maintenance, and operational activities at assigned locations while establishing measurable quality goals and tracking their success. Recruit, train, and manage drivers, tank wash, maintenance, dispatch, and clerical personnel, ensuring redundancy staffing through cross-training and enforcing compliance with DOT, OSHA, and EEOC regulations. Develop short and long-term operational strategies, maintain accurate records, and control terminal expenses within budgeted guidelines to enhance profitability. Serve as the terminal's liaison with local vendors, manage purchasing, and resolve customer complaints while projecting a professional image through facility appearance and interactions. Work extended hours including nights and weekends as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Transportation Management or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience in the Transportation/Distribution industry
- Working knowledge of truckload transportation operations
- Ability to supervise and discipline personnel with proper documentation
- Superior interpersonal skills and ability to interact tactfully with diverse personalities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Understanding of mechanical operations and maintenance of revenue equipment
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- The ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends as necessary
