Job Summary

Terminal Automation Project Manager at Vopak leads end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of terminal automation and process-control solutions. Acts as the primary bridge between engineering, IT, vendor partners, and operations to oversee three terminal automation upgrades, migrating from end-of-life DCS to appropriate market-leading DCS products. Aims to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget to improve terminal efficiency, throughput, and safety in a brownfield environment. Responsibilities include defining scope, milestones, and deliverables; budget and schedule management; coordinating FAT/SAT/IQ activities; vendor and contract management; IT/OT alignment with core systems (TOS, ERP/SAP, gate controls); safety and quality assurance; change management; and post-project evaluations. Requires flexible shifts and travel between Louisiana and Texas, with the lead office based in Texas. Includes working in an office and field environment with exposure to equipment and outdoor conditions; must be able to travel by air, rail, bus, or car and hold US work authorization.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of project management experience within a heavily automated industrial setting—ideally marine ports, bulk liquid terminals, logistics hubs, or heavy manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation frameworks, including PLCs, DCS, or SCADA
  • Experience with Terminal Management Software (e.g., Toptech TMS, Honeywell Terminal Manager) or Terminal Operating Systems (TOS)
  • Basic networking infrastructure, field instrumentation, and electrical schematics (P&ID drawings)
  • Proven ability to manage cross-functional, multicultural teams and negotiate effectively with high-stakes external vendors and stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel between Louisiana and Texas (up to 20–30%) and operate from lead office in Texas as needed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or closely related technical field
  • PMP or PRINCE2 certification is highly desirable
  • Proficiency with project scheduling tools (MS Project, Smartsheet) and exposure to CAD or SolidWorks
  • Eligibility to work in the United States (no immigration sponsorship)
