Job Summary
Teach courses in early literacy education, collaborate with colleagues on literacy sequence alignment and revision, and work with practicum students and clinical teachers. Build relationships with public schools and contribute to the School of Education's mission to prepare exemplary educators for diverse, multicultural communities. Participate in scholarly productivity and professional service within the field of education. This full-time, 9-month appointment begins August 2027. The candidate must be an active, faithful member of a congregation of the Churches of Christ and demonstrate commitment to equity-oriented, culturally responsive teaching frameworks.
Required Qualifications
- An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in literacy education or a related field conferred no later than August 2027
- significant progress toward the terminal degree
- A minimum of three years of K-12 teaching experience
- A record of, or evidence of potential for, scholarly productivity
- A demonstrated commitment to equity-oriented, culturally responsive/sustaining, and/or antiracist teaching frameworks
- Commitment to and experience in collaborative professional practice
- Evidence of professional and institutional service in K-12 and/or higher education
- Active, faithful membership in a congregation of the Churches of Christ
- Willingness to support the Christian mission and purpose of the university
- Statement of philosophy of teaching and learning and the role of scholarship in teaching and learning
- Statement about how the candidate's view of the relationship of Christian faith and worldview of teaching and learning aligns with the university's Identity, Mission and the Future of Abilene Christian University document
- Statement concerning the candidate's personal spiritual journey
